SPACE for Gosforth

SPACE for Gosforth is a group which promotes and campaigns for a Safe Pedestrian and Cycling Environment for Gosforth. We are residents of Gosforth, most of us with families and we walk, cycle, use public transport and drive. We are not affiliated to any other campaign group or political party.
We want to see Gosforth as a destination for visitors rather than purely a transport corridor.
We want to see changes to Gosforth’s road infrastructure that prioritise people walking and cycling of all ages and abilities over vehicles.
We are all pedestrians and SPACE for Gosforth supports the priorities of the national Living Streets campaign, which calls for:
– 20mph speed limits in urban areas
– Reduction in street clutter
– Segregated space for pedestrians and cyclists
– Prohibition of pavement parking
– Age friendly streets

SPACE for Gosforth supports the 6 principles of the national Space for Cycling Campaign:
1. Protected space on main roads
2. Removing through motor traffic in residential areas
3. Lower speed limits
4. Cycle-friendly town centres
5. Safe routes to school
6. Routes through green spaces
